Sinners

The bible says "All are sinners and have fallen short of God's glory."
How true it is, have encounter some selfish colleagues at work theses few days.
Really need strength from God to forgive and don't let them affect my work.

Like what WH said during his e-birthday, when we are tired or busy we will be selfish

Phone Spoilt part 2!

Went to get my phone fix, thank God for the courage and strength that He had given me for not telling a lie.
All went well and I'm told that I would be able to get the phone back on the 5th of Jan 2009. Not sure how much it'll cost me.

Phone Spoilt

My Sony Erisson phone is damaged! The screen was either blank or strips of lines were on the screen. Heart pain lei.. Going to the service center to get it repair, how much will it cost to repair it if it's able to be repair. The struggle that I'm having now is what should I say when they ask me how it happen. Don't believe the warrranty cover drops, some told me to lie about the damage, others told me to tell partical lie/truth. Really a big struggle. But I've (juz) decided to just say the truth about the damage. Pray for me all, that i'll not change my mind.

Christmas in church was maverlous, so many people were here. Pray that God really used that to re-new both the christian and non-christian hearts.

Cheers

what would you do?

What would you do when you are working on a project by yourself and your team member stands by your side and watch?
What would you do when that same member does things to put you down.
What would you do when your close one betray you?
Quoted from Spurgeon "We need not fear a frowning world while we rejoice in a prayer hearing God."
King David once said it beautifully; " I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the LORD substain me. I will not fear the tens of thousands drawn up against me on every side" Psalm 3:5-6.
He said all this while he is been chased out from his kingdom by his fresh and blood son. He is really positive.
If we are not fully aware of what we have in God, this is a good time to think about it.

Snowing in Singapore

It's "Snowing" in Singapore..
The highlight of the second part of our day was at Tanglin Mall, we had yummy steamboat at Roxy square and later Ah Chong drove us (mama, papa, Sis, Wife, Tes, the 2 precious kids and me) to Tanglin mall to watch the Snow show.. It's really amazing.. the kids love it.. Took quite nice pics there.. (pics not from new phone)

Trip to Vivo City

Went to Vivo city to do some banking today, but didn't get what we wanted and the financial consultant that is serving us is not satisfactory for us. In the end, we brought Leah to the second outdoor playground (the one with the water features) she really enjoys it. When we ask her can we go yet she keeps shaking her head.. Finally decided to go when she got water sprayed at her face I think some went to her mouth, nose and eyes as well (cos she went to check out the water outlet). Really had a enjoyable half day today.

She's really tired after the whole thing, but she still happily enjoying her food (macaroni with cheese) yum yum.
Baby sleeping now... Shhhhh...

What happens on my birthday.

Bad News
This holiday season will see more spam mail going around.

Worst news
Intel Chip Mac will probably be a target to viruses. Once pride for their anti-virus proved platform, Apple are now asking their user to install anti-virus software and do schedule checks on their platform. The iphone will also be hit too with virus.

Good News
More people are getting Mac over PC.

Sacrifice

God had gave us his only Son Jesus so that we could live a new life

My Hope SIngapore

Invited my friends at my work place to my house yesterday for a session of "My Hope Singapore" or aka Mathew's friend program. When Mathew accepted Jesus calling to him he left his tax booth and follow him, after that he invited all his friends (others tax collectors and others sinners) to have a great feast at his house in honor of Jesus. His whole purpose is to have them invite Jesus into their life.
Therefore my whole purpose was to share the gospel to them by inviting them to my house. We had games (Hit or miss, berhymed, Zesus on the loose and ugly dolls) and after that we watch a 1 hour and 30 min video (the cross road) it's a special video specially filmed for this event and finally we had dinner (popiah, pizza and many more). After the video, I shared a short testimony on how I had came to accept Christ as my personnel Saviour (believe it or not, I'm really nervous and scared) But thanks UJ, saw you praying there and it gave me the courage..
My task was completed and the rest is handed over to my Saviour and Lord of my life. This is my hope and prayer that people around me are able to know and come to accept him too as their guiding light, Lord and Saviour.
"But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and his stripes we are healed." Isaiah 53:5

Take up your own cross

I've came across this cartoon strip on an E-mail send to me by my sister.
It's reminds me that when I had decided to follow Jesus and take up my own cross, I should do it all the way. I shouldn't have one foot on Christ and the other on the world, thinking that I can enjoy the goodness of both sides. In the end, I would not be able to pass the judgment that God had in store for us.

"If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me." Luke 9:23
I've highlighted "deny" and "daily" to remind us that when we decide to come after Jesus, we should no longer be self-centered but God-centered, and from that day on it is going to be an everyday event that means no weekends no public holiday, we are going to live that kinda of lives as long as God allow us to live.

Watching too much TV = Not happy folks

I refer to November 22 2008 The Straits Time article on page C15, "Happy? Then you're not watching much TV."
The article is a reference to New York Times, it stated "That the University of Maryland analyzed 34 years of data collected from more than 45,000 participants and found that watching TV might make you feel good in the short term, but is more likely to lead to overall unhappiness. The pattern for daily TV use is particularly dramatic, with 'not happy' people estimating over 30 per cent more TV hours per day than 'very happy' people. Television viewing is a pleasurable enough activity with no lasting benefit, and it pushes aside time spent in other activities - ones that would provide long term benefits in one's condition. In other words, TV does cause people to be less happy (the above studies also involves married couples)"
Some people might argue that, "Hey, I'm not an unhappy dude and I think I'm happy married with my partner, and if I don't watch TV where could I get the latest news?" Had a discussion with the wife, and she pointed out that as watching television is a usually 'a one sided affair' and rarely do we need to communicate to the other party when we are watching, except asking few random questions to catch up on the missed story lines. This causes us to interact less with each others, and could in turn drift each other apart. If communication is not an important factor in our life, then why do we spend so much time on SMS, phone calls and even dating before we get married? I do not think that just seeing each others or holding each other hands or messaging sweet words are enough to know the other party well to have a commitment in life.
With the above said, so what do happy people do that unhappy people don't do or does less? The study state that, "Happy people and married couple pend a lot of time socializing, going to church and reading newspapers."
An Israel king (King David) wrote this about God,"
I sought the LORD, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant, and their face shall never be ashamed. This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him and saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them. Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good! Blessed is the man who take refuge in him! Oh, fear the LORD, you his saints, for those who fear him have no lack!" Psalm 34:4-9

R u Ananias and Barnabas

Who are Ananias and Barnabas? Their names first appeared in the Book of Acts in the New Testament, they are the one that overcome their scruples and hesitations, and that the initiative to befriended the used to be Saul the persecutor. Ananias introduced Saul to the fellowship in Damascus, and Barnabas did the same thing for him later in Jerusalem. If it were not for them Saul might not be able to fit into the Christian community and enjoyed the Christian fellowship, the whole course of church history might then be different.
Therefore let's stretch out our hands and be the Ananiases and Barnabases to the newcomers in our church, embrace them in our fellowship and make them feel at home. Isn't that what the Christian community is about? To share and love together in Christ our Lord.

Taiwan Trip (the remaining days)

Well what could I say? There's juz so much to say, enjoy and of course eat in Taiwan (for my wife and sister they'll probably put in shopping in the list that I had here). Girls really love shopping, there are those who goes right to the items that they like grab them and pay for it straight away, there's those that will try on that particular items tons of time and ask if they look good in it (after the comments either good or bad) they look at themselves one more time in the mirror and pay for it. And for cos there are also those who will bargain to death (usually for that few cents worth) for the items that they might not even need it and be happy about their achievement for a couple of days. Don't really understand women.
Well the remaining photos could be seen in my Picasa, enjoy the photos.

Leah is so cute, this is a photo of her trying to close her eyes. After coming back from Taiwan, it seems that she learns stuffs faster. Now she can walk pretty well without much help from us. and do some neat tricks.
Till date the tricks she can do;
- Close her eye
- Yawn
- Laugh (fake laugh)
- Cry (fake cry)
- Rub her tummy
- Brush Teeth
- Roar like a lion
- Fake Sleep with snore

Live Demo on the things that Leah can do.

Vweekly

Woh!! Been a week since I'm back from Taiwan, still feeling very tired everyday. I could go to sleep at 9pm or 9.30pm and wake at 8.30am still feeling very tired. Not sure if the body is trying to catch up with the lack of rest when I'm in Taiwan, or juz that I had too much sleep.
Will try to post some photos and thoughts on the Taiwan trip later on.
Thought of the day, Taiwanese are really into politics and it's not juz about their country they had quite a view on ours' too (our tour guide and some Ah Pek we meet when we are in 淡水). Their views are.. may I put it as not as mainstream here.
My sis send me an E-mail she had received titled " The HDB Flat Pricing Scam" (if you are interested in the mail, I'm willing to send it to anyone). Makes me wonder if I'm really paying a higher cost for my humble 3 room flat. But I've really have to thank God for the house as it's really is a blessing from Him (read my previous blog about this God blessed house). That brings me to a blog by Mr. Brown titled "Primary School textbook: Singapore gahmen houses everyone" which states that a certain primary school textbook tells us that we are not homeless as our government provide affordable housing for us.

Saturday, October 25, 2008

Ya,.. Finally going to finish my work for the day. and "YES" Mr. Brown is back in Singapore with his witty comments on stuff. Been waiting for a long time for his blog on singapore issue. I think my colleagues at work is labelling me as anti-PAP, due to all the negative things I said about them. But it's really quite hard to find the other side of the story in Singapore in the local papers (got what i mean?).

And finally Ya,.. gg Taiwan on Tuesday, can't wait to see what Leah gg to do to her poor parent when we are on the plane and in Taiwan. Gg to be a fun trip with the family.

Will bring food back guys. see ya..

Birthdays... a celebration of grace

ever thought about it? why do we celebrate birthdays? especially since it will signify the whitening of more hairs, the deepening of more facial lines and the widening of spare tyres when we finally hit passed the peak year.

well, to me, the celebration of birthdays is the celebration of grace, of God's grace. Grace that has led us through another year of ups and downs. Grace that he has sustained and helped us grow physically and emotionally. Grace seen in the mundane everyday things of life that we often take for granted such as being able to wake up in the morning with our hearts still beating, lungs still working, blood still flowing etc.

and on the 12th of oct 2008, my family and i celebrate the birthday of our one-year old precious. God's grace is evident and amazing. how much she has grown! in every aspect!

the day began.... as usual, she woke up early with her hair ruffled and she smiling...

then we got her ready for church... and while we got ready, we caught her rummaging through our wardrobe...

we proceeded to macdonald's and it was the first time she ate hotcakes!

we had our little family celebration after church. Her cake was made by my sister and the cupcakes were made by me.

as you can see, our birthday girl was very grouchy and she was very tired from entertaining everyone on that day!

and lastly, everyone, this is the image of God's grace:
