last day at work

Wednesday was my last day at work, some said that I had move on to a greener pasture. I couldn't have agreed with them more, as pslam 23 said that the Lord is my shepherd and I shall not be in wants. He laid me down in green pasture.
Before I leave I sent out an e-mail to all my colleagues including the HODs, inside the mail is a something that I hope those who are not in the green pasture to have.

Hi all,
Today will be my last day working in APP. I would like to thank the company and all for my stay here.
From May, I'll be embarking on a new stage in my life. When I was 17, I believed that I am a sinner and without God I can do nothing, besides leading a purposeless, hopeless and joyless life. God had showed me his everlasting love and a way to break away from my old meaningless life. After many years of prayers, I have decided to commit myself to serving God full time. I'll be working as a full time staff in the church that I am attending, and will be taking my Master in Divinity from Bible College next year.
I had found my Savior and Lord; he has shown me peace, joy and hope that I had longed for. Hope you can experience it too.
For my brothers and sisters in Christ, please pray for my family and me. That we would continue to have faith and follow in God's guidance and providence in our journey ahead.
You could drop me a mail to xxxxx@gmail.com or keep in contact thru fb.

Birthdays

This Month is filled with birthdays. There's papa's birthday and Leah's birthday and then followed by mama's birthday.
The kids (Tristan and Leah) love to blow out the candles after the birthday song was sung or was it before.
We celebrated papa's birthday at a restaurant somewhere at Alexandra, and sis bought a cake for him.

Then there's Leah's two year old birthday, we celebrated it with a Winnie the pooh cake on the 10th of Oct (no pic for that here). And sis say that since the little one loves to blow out the candles she'll buy another cake on her actual day.

mama's birthday will be next.. the kids really blow their heart out this month (4 cakes in one month).

Happy Birthday to all who are born in the month of Oct..

Having sisters makes one happier

"Having a sister makes you happier and more optimistic, a new study shows, but the same is not true for having a brother."
"Sister appear to encourage more open communication and cohesion in families. However, brothers seem to have the alternative effect." from today online dtd 6th April 2009.

Not sure if it's 妹妹(younger sister) or 姐姐(elder sister). So now you can blame your brother when you are not happy or a pessimistic.

My next child would also be a much happier and more optimistic one, due to her elder sister Leah.

Today there is a talk on the current economy crisis. Went to Mr Brown blog and found he had embedded a short video on how it all started. Easy enough to understand and filled with interesting pictures.

Holiday

SAF100 was issued to me last year stated that I'm supposed to report for duty from 16/03/09 to 27/03/09. Long waited holiday without taking leave from work, Yah. For those that are serving NS now, I can understand that you must be thinking this guy "Siao on" ah, crazy already.. But when you had ORDed and has been working long time, the only occasion when you can just listen to orders and just do it, is quite rare.
So from next week onward I'm going to leave my work to where it belong and go for a holiday to my camp for 2 whole weeks.
The thing about reservist is, you will never know what you get, till you are inside, check the portal for the training time table. As usual it's not out yet, will try again tomorrow. Got a call from my camp mate and he say he has insider info that this in-camp will be quite different; 1 range, 1 IPPT, 3D2N stay at our beloved island (Tekong).
On I go to serve my country.. Wei lor wei lor wei lor ha ha, no sweat chicken feet hahaha all the way.

Vweekly

This is not a blog about Leah's birthday party, the wife wanted to blog about it, so I'll leave it to her to share with you on the fun things we had on that day.
Brought some wonderful cupcakes the wife made for my daughter to work today, it's supposed to be for some colleagues of mine. But quite a handful of them were unable to eat it today, why? It's not because they had left me high volume of workloads nor are they in my bad books. It's just that they had met with an accident on their way to KL. I don't think they are even half way to their final destination when the car crash. Thank God that they are not seriously injured, I think the worst case is chest pain (not sure if it's broken lar). The funny thing was, I had msg this one colleague on sunday night and reminded her to bring some books for my reading pleasure, and she replied me saying that she will if she's able to find where the books are hiding. And that was the day when she had the accident. Well to be more accurate they had the accident in the morning and I msg her at night. To her it's like nothing unusual or big and she's even thinking of going to work the next day. haha good for you lar Ms Ding. Voted the strongest survivor in APP.
Today Tristan said " I.. I wan..wanna... go...(long pause) gu gu (that's me ok) hous (ya that's the way he say house)" and he really mean it even said goodbye to mama and papa hahah. " I.. I.. wan.. wanna.. gu gu car..cari" Full of requests today.
Min Min stands without support today.. Twice.. not random ok. my hope of her walking when we are in Taiwan is still strong. May the force be with her. haha

Lost any phone recently?

It really is amazing! This is the fourth time in this month (and it's only been 2 weeks) that I've heard my closest people losing their phone. In order of timing, my colleague, my sister in law, my brother in law and lastly the wife. I think the last is the funniest. It happened today at my home, after we had finish making the icing for the cupcakes that is supposed to be for my daughter birthday on Sunday, the wife ask where is her phone? Tried calling her number, thinking that it might be somewhere in the house (the wife re-stated again to me now that it couldn't be possibly outside as her last msg was to me and it was done inside the house), but the phone was off. Next we tried searching high and low for it, thinking that it might be in some place or corner where there is no reception or my daughter had actually switch it off while playing with it (amazing rite? she's barely one yr old). But still nothing is found. The next crazy idea came into our mind, Tes (our helper) keeps saying that it might be in the newspaper that was laid out on the table when we were having our dinner, and she could have throw it away while clearing it. Must say that she is very persistent in claiming it, so we decided to go down to the rubbish chute, Yes you got it right THE RUBBISH CHUTE, armed with four plastic bags (to cover our hands while searching for the phone in the rubbish chute) and a touch light to light the place up. I shall not go into detail on that, just say that it's not a clean sight and it's a "dirty" job for both of us. Not in there either.

So in the end told Tes to look for it tomorrow when she is cleaning the house, still think that my genies daughter switch it off and hide it somewhere, going to grill her tomorrow to find out where it is.
Really hope to find the phone for the wife, she quite like that Nokia Phone.

Lastly, HAPPY BIRTHDAY LEAH!! 2 more days to go to your birthday.

What is man? (人算什么?)

The sermon topic on Sunday " Looking up at the moon that God had hung in the sky". The speaker remind us, what is man? I think the Chinese translation will explain in better <人算什么?> When we look at the the celestial, we see the magnificent sight the heaven holds; the stars twinkling in the sky, the moon shining up in heaven. It really makes us wonder, what are we? We are so tiny compare to all these. If God had not bless and interact with us, what are we?

In Psalm King David wrote, " When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings an crowned him with glory and honor. You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet, all sheep and oxen, and also the beast of the field, the birds of heavens and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the sea." Psalm 8:3-8

In the end what can we say? King David ended with this sentence, " O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all earth." He praised Him and return all glory and honor back to God. That makes we ponder how could I return all glory and honor back to God in my daily life.

My nephew is so cute, today when we are going back home his mummy gave him a backpack to carry, oh boy, does he look cute in it. That little boy is a creation of God and it fully fit how I feel when I wrote the top post "人算什么?"
Tristan trying to spin around with his backpack

"Hmmm, which shoe goes well with my Ben Ten backpack?"

"ok really to go now, can't find any shoe that goes with my backpack"

Isn't he cute? Should also see him walk with that bag, can't really describe it with words, quote from the Mac'donald ads, " It's like ahhh, you know, when he walk it's like ahhh, you know." Must see to realize how cute he is.

Today the wife tried making cupcakes for our precious daughter. It's supposed to be Leah's birthday "cupcakes", you should be able to see the name Leah being spelled out with butter cheese icing on the banana with chocolate chips cupcakes (yummy rite). The finished products is too good to be eaten, it's such an eye candy. Don't you guys think so? Will be bringing it to church for some of you to try... haha don't snatch ok..

"Advance Happy birthday Leah"
Look how happy Leah is, even raising her hands to thank mom for the cupcakes

Remember there is this movie once called "The avenger" on this one scene the two heroes walk on water using a air balloon. Thought it is only a special effect done by the Hollywood, and beside Jesus and Peter(who only walks briefly) no one could ever do it. Didn't know that the wife and daughter are doing it too today.

Venue : Basement of United Square (next to Novena Square)
Price : $9/person, $12 for two people
Duration : 10mins (sad to say, the wife and daughter only spend barely five minutes in it. As the air inside is non-circulative and Leah is crying inside.)Review: Although I didn't try it out myself, can see that Fiana quite enjoy herself although at first she had little confident going into the air balloon. If Leah is a little bigger I believe she'll also enjoy it. The other kids there really look like they were having fun "walking" on water.

Rating : 3/5 (If it wasn't so ex I'll give it a 4, if the air inside could be circulated It'll be a 5)

p.s. Sis, we'll bring Tristan there sometime for him to enjoy too.

Headache/New skill acquired by Leah

Woh, So many things happened during this week. Realized that my memory is really very bad; like running at only maybe 1Gb of hard disk space inside my head. Keep forgetting stuff and new stuff keep coming in, sometimes I'll even hang. My disciples like all facing some problems and I really don't know how to handle it. Feel quite helpless at times but really thank God for a group of brothers and sisters in Christ in these times of need; really don't know what I'm going to do without the help from the fellowship and God. This really made me realize that we are really limited and can't do without fellowship. Some people think that fellowship is only a social club or not necessary in our busy life (studying, working). That is totally rubbish. This is the place where love and support can truly be found.
Thanks once again brothers and sisters in CYYAM.

Today we tried letting Leah feed herself, she's eating bread with cheese. Really enjoying herself, kept asking us to clap our hands when she's done finish feeding herself. Enjoy the photos and a short video clip.

Where is Joy?

Joy is not there when we comes back at the end for the month with thousand of dollars and have no one to spend it on.
Joy is there when we knows that the salary we have is able to support our family.
Joy is there when we comes back to our humble home and sees the face of our love ones.
Joy is there when we knows that we have someone that loves us unconditionally.
Joy is there when we accept that person into our lives.
Joy is there when we know that we have hope.

Today I've experience both joy and hope in a cab ride back home from YFC. We were invited to attend a seminar in YFC today. After that Tes, Leah and I went back home by a cab, Fiana is meeting PF and will come back later. During the cab ride, the taxi uncle (I think an Indian) told me his story. He told me that his mother-in-law (she was handicap and bedridden due to and accident many years ago) had an heart attack this morning and was send to the hospital, his father-in-law is a drunkard (due to business set back, and also he's the one that causes his wife to be handicap) don't even know how to dial 995 or 1777 to send his wife to the hospital in the morning. They used to be rich but due to the car accident that cause his mother-in-law to be handicap, they end up selling all their property so as to pay back the damages and compensation to others.
This uncle used to be a boss of a transport company but due to business failure he now drives a taxi at night, and he is only making ends meet. He had 3 children all below the age of 12 years old had to support his own family as well as caring for his in-laws. When he was saying all these he didn't sound a bit hopeless. He was full of hope and joy and even mentions that tomorrow he will send his kids to their weekly tuition and have their weekly Hainanise Chicken Rice as a family during lunch. After that they will visit their granny in the hospital. All these to be done tomorrow, after he had his 6 hours of sleep at 2am later.
When I got to my stop, I told him that I'm a Christian and ask if I could pray for him, he agreed and I said a simple prayer. Uncle I don't know if I will ever meet you again, but I would like to say thanks for showing me that we should have hope and joy even thou life is not a bed of roses, where everything just follow smoothly in place in front of us.
Jesus didn't promise his disciples frame or fortunes when he ask them to follow him, yet he told them that they should bear their own cross daily. But he did promise that we would have abundance life when we forsake our own life for his sake.
Hope the story from this taxi uncle encourages those who has lost hope and can't find where is joy.
